White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that the airstrikes carried by the U.S. military against Iranian-backed groups in Syria that were announced Sunday were justified by Article II of the Constitution in self-defense of U.S. interests. The airstrikes were carried near the border between Iraq and Syria, drawing condemnation from Iraq’s military and calls for revenge by the militias.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that the airstrikes carried by the U.S. military against Iranian-backed groups in Syria that were announced Sunday were justified by Article II of the Constitution in self-defense of U.S. interests.
