Residential school survivors want action, not just an apology
Description
June 11, 2022
In late March, a group of Indigenous delegates, including residential school survivors, traveled to the Vatican for a series of meetings with Pope Francis. During a final audience, the Pope apologized for the deplorable conduct of some members of the Catholic Church. But reaction to his apology has been mixed. For some, it was a comfort, but for others, more concrete action is still needed. The New Reality gained access inside the historic trip by Metis, Inuit and First Nations delegates, as Neetu Garcha traveled with some of them to Vatican City as they shared the pain of the past, to find a path to the future.
