Commenting on the looming food crisis largely driven by Russia’s war on Ukraine with Russia’s blockade on the Black Sea , European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen told a press conference on Thursday that the EC is trying to financially support vulnerable nations — allocating 620 million euros in 2022 for this purpose — as well as helping find alternative routes for food supply that don’t rely on the Black Sea.
