Speaking in Bali, Indonesia on Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters his meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping was an “open and candid conversation.” Biden said he clearly told the Chinese president, “we will defend American interests and values, promote universal human rights and stand up for the international order and work in lockstep with our allies and partners.”
