Manitoba’s premier addresses justice system, addictions support in 2023 budget

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson responded on Tuesday to concerns regarding support for legal aid included in the 2023 provincial budget. Stefanson said the province will "continue to look at investments in legal aid but the primary focus remains on keeping the streets safe." Regarding addictions treatment, the province earmarked $9.4 million to supply 1,000 new treatment spaces. Stefanson said the province "plans on delivering the 1,000 new spaces for addictions treatment and may expand from there."
