Featuring a pair of towers with giant, spinning tin planes, the art piece known as “When Aviation Was Young” has been a colourful part of Calgary International Airport for more than 20 years. But now it’s being removed and returned to its artist, Jeff de Boer. Heather Yourex-West looks at the history of de Boer’s high-flying work, and why he’s hopeful it will find a new home.
