At least 12 people have been killed in Brazil’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul after an extra-tropical cyclone struck the region on Friday, according to the state’s authorities. State Governor Eduardo Leite said that for now, the priority was rescuing people and protecting those who were affected. He added that reconstruction works would start afterward.
