Description

Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez said Wednesday the federal government will stop advertising on Facebook and Instagram over Meta’s decision to remove Canadian news from its platform. Google has also promised to start blocking news but Rodriguez says the government is in talks with the company and believes its concerns can be managed by the regulations that will come to implement the bill.

Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez said Wednesday the federal government will stop advertising on Facebook and Instagram over Meta’s decision to remove Canadian news from its platform. Google has also promised to start blocking news but Rodriguez says the government is in talks with the company and believes its concerns can be managed by the regulations that will come to implement the bill.
